The United States Mint is proud to offer the 2013 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin honoring Maryland’s Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. Three inches in diameter and made of .999 fine silver, the reverse (tails) design represents the site during the “Defenders Day” celebration, considered the centerpiece annual event held at Fort McHenry. The fireworks symbolize the “rocket’s red glare,” linking the fort to its historic past.
