ebay tech-geek coin-geek shop now collectibles

With the coin and collectible market getting ever so competitive.  It’s great to see Coin World and ebay collaborating.  They hope to pull the tech-geek and the coin-geek together.  I love to see this kind of networking because the history of both of these fields are so unique and ever so fascinating.  I’ve visited the Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley and it’s amazing.  While the modern computer is young in comparison to the process of minting a coin, they both can be appreciated for their origin.  Check out ebay’s coin & collectible site as they have a sincere focus on working with legitimate sellers and protecting their buyers.  You can feel safe when buying from ebay!  Don’t forget so subscribe to Coin World, it’s the industry’s top trade magazine for staying current on what is trending.  You can find them in the link above or under the publications tab on the right.  Here’s to bringing two great forces together!

eBay Find | Vintage Cartier Saint Gaudens Money Clip

with one comment

This Classic Vintage Cartier Money Clip is listed on eBay.  A 1927 Saint Gaudens twenty-dollar gold coin is interned in this 18 karat gold money clip.  Most coins, even though they are artistic pieces in their own right, once put into jewelry lose their numismatic value.  I guess this depends on the jeweler.  Cartier made this piece in the fifties, and this money clip is listed well over its precious metal value.  The owner claims the retail value to be $6,300, but you can pick this up today at a bargain price of $4,490.  I am no expert on vintage jewelry, so I don’t really know how what kind of deal this is.  It is guaranteed to be Cartier and from the fifties, so in my book, it gets a “Cool Stuff” stamp.  Check out other Coinologist All Things Gold archive posts here.

Rare Morgan Silver Dollar Bank Roll-Carson City

with 3 comments

I don’t do much on eBay, and I really miss the days before it was a corporate giant.  Though I had to share this cool find while browsing the Coin Community.  Heavenlytreasures4u2010 is offering a Rare Morgan Silver Dollar Bank Roll *UNC*Carson City*DMPL.  At first thought this is very exciting, and anyone who has read The|Coinologist post on the Carson City Mint will know that this is any CC enthusiasts dream roll.  Once the ether wears off, you have to start your due diligence on originality, condition, and reputation of the seller.   I am eager to see what this ends up selling for and what kind of feedback the lucky winner will post.

A week in Silicon Valley.

To make this an official coast to coast trip I ventured up to the San Francisco Bay Area.  I am a previous resident and I still have family here. I lived here when the dot com bubble was bubbling, but was to busy doing finance at the time.  This made me pretty much oblivious to the whole thing. Of course the phone I am writing this post with is a super computer compared to what I had at home at the time.  With Apple, Google, Intel, eBay, and many more surrounding me.  It is an amazing feeling standing on this hallowed ground.
