Solid Gold iPad Supreme Edition

with one comment

I love my iPad and I really like gold, but I don’t know if I could pull off running around with one of these.  Once again for the person who just has to have that extra flair.  Here we have a  Solid Gold iPad with diamond encrusted Apple logo.  This isn’t just gold plating here, the rear and screen surround are made from a single piece of solid 22kt gold, weighing an immense 2,100 grams.  This baby will set you back about $190,000, of course you better order soon the way gold has been climbing.  Check out other Coinologist All Things Gold archive posts here.

This is an ultimate gift for the person who has everything.  Here we have a 24 karat Gold and Diamond MacBook Pro from Computer Choppers.  Let’s be honest, who cares about hard drive size and processor speed at this point.  If your carrying this around, your making a pretty profound statement by itself.  This laptop might be a little flashy, but it sure looks cool.  Just throw down a cook $29K and your golden!  Check out other Coinologist All Things Gold archive posts here.

APPLE-1 — Personal Computer

leave a comment »

Here is a great piece of personal computer history.  This APPLE-1 motherboard, cassette interface card, box, and original documents are going up for auction at Christie’s.  It was the first personal computer with a fully assembled motherboard, launching the home computer revolution.  It is expected to bring $160,600 – $240,900. What an incredible treasure someone had tucked away in a drawer.

A week in Silicon Valley.

To make this an official coast to coast trip I ventured up to the San Francisco Bay Area.  I am a previous resident and I still have family here. I lived here when the dot com bubble was bubbling, but was to busy doing finance at the time.  This made me pretty much oblivious to the whole thing. Of course the phone I am writing this post with is a super computer compared to what I had at home at the time.  With Apple, Google, Intel, eBay, and many more surrounding me.  It is an amazing feeling standing on this hallowed ground.
