Back to the Desert

with 5 comments

I like to remember this day, if only because the trilogy had such an impact on my young impressionable mind.  November 5th is the day Marty Mc Fly went back in time.  This Hill Valley police car from Back to the Future II is rotting away on someone’s land in Lancaster, CA.  What a shame, when so many people are quite enthusiastic about movie memorabilia.  On the other hand I love the “Now and Then” feature of history.  Be sure to view the whole post to see this car in its movie debut and glory!

Hauser & Miller Refiners

leave a comment »

Here’s an American company that has made the 100 year club.  Hauser & Miller located in St. Louis, MO, has been refining precious metals since 1909.  “Fair, competitive, and fast returns have marked our philosophy for over 100 years. Our reputation in the industry is unrivaled.”  They work with precious metals and are masters at fabricating many different metals.  These are the places that you should be taking your scrap gold or silver to, not the “We Buy Gold” guy on the corner!

Sharp Wizard QZ-7000

with one comment

Before the ipad, smart phones, or the palm pilot, there was the Sharp Wizard QZ-7000.  This was my first personal digital assistant.  It was 1991 and my friend Ryan and I found these, and it was a must have.  Just imagine, 32 kilobytes of memory and a 8 by 16 character black and white lcd screen.  This is so pathetic from the machines we have to choose from today.  But as we all know, carpe diem!   I visited the Computer History Museum a couple of years ago and found one on display.  Needles to say I was overjoyed.  Worthy of mentioning, if you check out the museum wish list, you just might have something that they want.

Honda CR-Z Sport Hybrid

leave a comment »

Having been a teenager in the pocket rocket era, which included the GTI, CRX, MR2, 323GTX, just to name a few. My brother came across the next generation CRX released as a 2011 model named the Honda CR-Z. It is following  the tradition of the pocket rockets, but has a green side to it.  This sporty car is now a hybrid, having a Sport, Normal, and Econ mode.  I owned two CRX’s and would love to relive the fun times I had in a CR-Z.
