If you enjoy history and the great outdoors, then you’ll love the third stop on the United States Mint’s All-American Road Trip! In Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, visitors can hike more than 20 miles of scenic trails and learn about trades and craftsmanship from the 19th century. A hub of American history, Harpers Ferry was the location of the largest surrender of Federal troops during the Civil War, the site of John Brown’s attack on slavery, the arrival of the first successful American railroad, and the education of former slaves in one of the earliest integrated schools in the U.S.
