1988 Pontiac Banshee Concept Car

While it might not look a little futuristic now, when I first saw the Pontiac Banshee at the Cleveland Auto Show in 1988 I was amazed.  The lines were so fluid and it looked more like a spaceship than a car.  This was the a time when they still had to use clay models for concept cars, not computer mock ups.  This  banshee was the future look of the Firebird and Pontiac Trans Am sports cars..  We won’t mention that Pontiac didn’t make it through GM’s bankruptcy.  This was a time when Pontiac’s motto was “We Built Excitement,” and they actually did.  Hollywood got a piece of the car when it had a cameo in the 1989 movie Back to the Future II.   This piece of automotive history now resides in a General Motors Museum.
