2010 American Proof Silver Eagle

with one comment

Here is some good news for collectors.  The United States Mint will be resuming production of the American Eagle Proof Silver Eagle.  It was put on hold in 2009 due to the high demand for the American Silver Eagle Bullion Coin.  This upset many collectors because of their dedication to the mints programs, and the fact they were shelling out hundreds of dollars per year to have complete collections of certain coins.  Legislation mandates that American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin production take precedence over the numismatic version of the coin.  I’m sure the mint heard these customers loud and clear, so with seigniorage declining, and the new proof carrying a $44.95 price tag, it is sure to be a good profit center for them.  With all that said this is a beautiful coin and I am personally glad to see the mint resume production.
