1988 BMW Sport Bike

with one comment

While on my journey I came across this awesome find.  It’s a 1988 BMW Sport Bike.  I talked to the owner, who bought it new in 1988 and clocked every one of the 103,218 miles on the odometer.  If you know motorcycles, this is an incredible feat.  I was too excited to ask the model name, so if anyone knows please comment.  I love the graphics on the lower fairing, it’s so 1980’s BMW.

  1. It’s a K75S, which was a sportier version of the K series (which are BMW’s multi-cylinder line. The R series is always a twin cylinder while the K is three or more). Has a three-cylinder 750cc horizontal engine. There was also a K100 which had a 1000cc four cylinder. I started riding on a 1985 K100RS.

You might like the looks and the reliability, but these are seriously overweight and tall bikes – they very hard to handle at low speed. Brilliant on the open road but pigs in town.
