The LVNS annual picnic will be tomorrow May 19th at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. It is going to be a fun filled day and I hope to be able to share a few photos in the coming week. I regrettably will not be attending, as I am on the East coast. Should you have any questions or would like to join please call Joe at 702-860-6032 for more information.
The latest LVNS club meeting was held this past Saturday, April 14, 2012. The doors open at 2pm and the bourse was exceptionally large. There was a good buzz around as collectors and dealers bought and sold coins and bullion. The meeting started at 3pm, and there was barely an empty seat in the house. After a little bit of business which, was handled by our President, Joe Cavallaro. There were two excellent presentations. Joe talked about the 100 year anniversary of the Titanic sinking, and shared some really neat artifacts. Then Larry brought in an incredible Ship related collection of notes and coins. It is amazing to see how each and everyone’s passions shine through when talking about things they love. After a small break for refreshments, there was raffle mania in the house. I personally won a replica post card from the Titanic that was accompanied by an authentic 1912 Barber Dime, very cool! Then to my surprise I heard my name again and I won a 2012 Denver Mint Uncirculated Coin Set. So if you have a couple of hours feel free to join us at our next meeting it is truly a fun time, and a chance to talk shop with fellow enthusiasts! Next month we will be having our Annual picnic at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. Should you have any questions or would like to join please call Joe at 702-860-6032 for more information.

The Palace Station Oyster Bar is live-action cooking and may just be the best kept secret in Las Vegas… but not for long. Order up fresh Little Neck clams steamed to perfection or mussels fresh from the deep blue sea. Try a bowl of New England clam chowder or cioppino, gumbo or a pasta dish while you sit at the bar. I have been frequenting this oyster bar for more than ten years now, and I don’t blink an eye when I have to wait an hour on occasion. If you’re in town for the Coin Show, be sure to stop by and have a bite.
This weekend it will be all about numismatics in Berlin. Rightfully called “THE” numismatic event of the year is upon us. The World Money Fair 2012. Previous shows have brought 15,000 visitors to this historically rich fair. There is a little bit of everything from “Professional exchange with mints, national banks, technical suppliers or coin dealers. An unrivaled assortment from classical through modern numismatics, including medals, tokens, historic bank notes, and stocks and bonds.” As a numismatist and collector I am truly envious of all attendees. I hope with some strategic planning I will be able to make next years show! Check out the schedule below for event details.
