Back to the Desert

with 4 comments

I like to remember this day, if only because the trilogy had such an impact on my young impressionable mind.  November 5th is the day Marty Mc Fly went back in time.  This Hill Valley police car from Back to the Future II is rotting away on someone’s land in Lancaster, CA.  What a shame, when so many people are quite enthusiastic about movie memorabilia.  On the other hand I love the “Now and Then” feature of history.  Be sure to view the whole post to see this car in its movie debut and glory!

BMW i | Born Electric

with one comment

What an amazing automobile!  Needless to say this in a glance into the not too distant future.  BMW’s new i series, tag name: Born Electric.  Leave it to the engineers at BMW to envision what I drive in my dreams, and bringing to the now.  This carbon fiber and composite computer on wheels will run seamlessly with your smartphone. While taking you where you want to go in style and comfort, without the carbon footprint.  I look forward to the i series hitting the streets, and will be a my local dealer well before the cars are on the showroom floor.

Many have considered the X5 to be the finest Mid-Size Luxury SUV’s on the road. This 2003 X5 4.6is combines cutting edge styling, rugged construction, off-road capability, ample comfort amenities, power, exhilarating performance, versatility, great cargo room, luxury and legendary BMW reliability.  The beautiful Titanium Silver paired with Black Napa Leather and Rare Burlwood trim is exceptional.  The M inspired V8 has 340 horsepower, and a suspension to back up it up.  If you have followed The|Coinologist you know that this automobile has taken me many places.  I thought it only right she have a post of her own.

Evolution of the Ferrari Dashboard

leave a comment »

All automotive enthusiasts should agree that an automobile’s dashboard is where its heart and soul come together, allowing the driver to become one with the machine.  I have always been a Ferrari fan, and was in awe when coming across this photo of a modern Ferrari instrument panel.  It is so true that technologies developed for racing make their way into production automobiles.  This picture above is nothing less than a Formula One cockpit a few years ago.  I found some old Ferrari dashboards so you can get a sense of the evolution that has taken place.

1977/78 Pontiac Trans Am

leave a comment »

The love of the American Muscle Car will only continue to grow and flourish.  The 1977-78 Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am is at the heart of this following, and an original car with the right options can bring up to $50,000.  I have a love for this car, I guess I would have been eight when it first arrived at dealerships, but I had an epiphany no less.  Somewhat like the fist time rock and roll registered in my brain, which was The Police, Spirits in the Material World, while driving somewhere in South Dakota, while my older Brother played his cassette at my Fathers lack of enthusiasm.  So back to the car.  I must have seen it in a magazine, cruising down the road,  or the movie Smokey and the Bandit itself, which gave this car timeless fame. I just knew I fell in love for the first time.  The 1977-78 Trans Am’s front air dam was unique for those two years, which in my opinion is the best looking.  I’m sure there are restorers all over the country, but my research came across Trans Am Specialists of Florida.  They seem to know their way around these classic cars of the seventies.  When a car was more metal, glass, and rubber, than plastic, powder coat, and computer chips.  These were the days when Pontiac did built excitement!

BMW ART CARS

with 2 comments

The BMW ART CARS have always been a fascination of mine.  I can remember seeing them as a young lad and wondering what had someone done to these cars.  Now that I am older and wiser I can see the beauty, the history, and the statement these cars make.  Seventeen cars in total, the vision a French race car driver had in 1975 would become an iconic run of masterpieces.  BMWdrives is a great site to visit and view all the ART CARS, and to find out anything and everything there is to know about BMW.
