The Carson City Mint

Driving back to Reno I came across the mothership for all that is grand in the CC collectors world, The Carson City Mint. I look upon this building and think back to 1870 when the mint opened. Virginia City was a boomtown, and more gold and silver was coming out of the ground than you can imagine. The mint is now the Nevada history museum and the tour is a must. On display are press number one, the vault, and a scale that can measure some serious precious metals.
